Delete a property
What this is
Deleting a property removes it from your active Properties list. This is a soft delete — the property is hidden from your lists and reports, but its underlying history is preserved behind the scenes, so nothing is permanently erased.
To protect your records, the app blocks a property delete while anything is still attached to it. You’ll need to remove those attached items first.
When to use it: Delete a property you no longer manage and don’t need on your active list. If you simply want to stop using a property but keep its history visible, set its Status to Inactive instead — see Edit a property’s details.
What blocks this delete
A property cannot be deleted while it still has any of the following attached:
- One or more leases
- One or more units
- One or more charges
- One or more bills
Remove them in this order before deleting the property:
- Delete (or end and remove) all leases on the property.
- Delete all units under the property.
- Delete all charges recorded against the property.
- Delete all bills recorded against the property.
- Then delete the property.
If you try to delete a property that still has attached records, you’ll see a message like:
Cannot Delete Property — You cannot delete this property. This property has associated records (leases, units, charges, or bills) that must be deleted first. Contact support for any questions.
Steps
- In the left sidebar, click Properties, then click View on the property to open its Summary page.
- Open the Actions menu (top right) and choose Delete Property.
- A confirmation pop-up appears asking you to confirm. Click DELETE to remove the property, or Close to cancel.
What you’ll see
- On success: the property disappears from your active Properties list and you see a confirmation message. Because units belong to the property, they’re removed along with it.
- If it’s blocked: a “Cannot Delete Property” warning pop-up appears (quoted above), naming the kinds of records you must remove first. Remove those items, then try the delete again.
