Edit a unit
What this is
Editing a unit lets you change its unit number — the label that identifies the rentable space (for example, changing “1” to “101”). You edit units in the same place you add them: the property’s Summary page, on the Units tab.
When to use it: Edit a unit when you want to correct a typo in its number, or standardize how your units are labeled so they sort and display neatly.
Before you start
- The property and the unit must already exist. See Add units to a property.
Steps
- In the left sidebar, click Properties, then click View on the property to open its Summary page.
- Click the Units tab.
- Find the unit in the list and open its Action menu.
- Choose Edit Unit. A pop-up opens showing the current unit number.
- Change the Unit Number to the new value.
- Save the pop-up.
What you’ll see
The unit’s label updates in the Units list. If the new number matches another unit already in the same property, you’ll be warned that the number is a duplicate — unit numbers must be unique within a property, so pick a different one.
Tips
- Renaming a unit updates its label everywhere it appears, including on its current lease — it doesn’t create a new unit or affect the lease itself.
- Keep your labels consistent across the building (for example all three-digit numbers) so units sort in the right order in lists and reports.
