Add a custom field

What this is

Custom fields let you track extra information on your properties that the standard property form doesn’t capture — for example a gate code, an HOA contact, a lockbox code, or a parking-spot count. You define a field once, and it becomes available on every property so you can fill in a value for each one.

When to use it: add a custom field whenever there’s a piece of property information you look up often but the built-in form has no place for.

Before you start

  • You’ll need at least one property. Add one from your Properties section first if you haven’t yet.

Steps

  1. In the left sidebar, click Properties.

  2. Open a property’s Summary page, then open its Custom Fields section (the breadcrumb at the top will read “Property Custom Fields”). This is a shared list — custom fields you add here apply to all of your properties, not just this one.

  3. Click the Action button (top right), then click Add Custom Field.

  4. A pop-up opens. In the Field Name box, type a name for the field, for example “Gate Code”.

  5. Click Save.

What you’ll see

The pop-up closes and the new field appears in your Custom Fields list. The field is now available on every property’s Custom Fields section, ready for you to enter a value for each property (for example, the actual gate code for one building).

Tips

  • The field name is the label you’ll see on every property, so make it clear — “Gate Code” rather than “Code”.
  • A custom field is the definition (the label). The value is what you type in for a specific property. Adding the field doesn’t fill in any values — you do that per property afterward.
