Edit a user
What this is
Editing a user lets you update a team member’s name, email, or access level — for example, promoting a Manager to Administrator, or correcting a misspelled name. Use this when someone’s role or contact details change but they’re staying on your team.
When to use it: a team member’s responsibilities change, they get a new email address, or you need to raise or lower their access.
Before you start
- You’ll need access to the Users page (reached from Settings). Changing a user’s level usually requires an administrator account.
Steps
- In the top navigation bar, click the Settings menu (the gear icon, top right), then click Settings.
- On the Settings page, click the Users tile.
- Find the person in the list. To review their details first without changing anything, click View on their row.
- To make changes, open the dropdown next to View on their row and click Edit.
- Update any of the following:
- First Name / Last Name — the person’s name.
- Email — their login and contact address.
- User Level — Administrator, Manager, or Employee. (For what each level can do, see Invite a team member.)
- Click Save.
What you’ll see
You’re returned to the Users list, where the updated name, email, or user level appears right away. The change to their access takes effect the next time they sign in.
Tips
- Update a user’s level promptly when their responsibilities change so they only have the access they actually need.
- If someone is only stepping away temporarily, consider lowering their access level rather than removing them — see Delete a user.
