Edit a custom field

What this is

Editing a custom field renames the field label that appears on all of your properties — for example, changing “Gate Code” to “Gate / Lockbox Code”. This article covers renaming the field. To fill in or change the value of a field for a particular property, see “Enter a value” below.

When to use it: clarify or correct a field’s name. Renaming the field keeps every value you’ve already entered on your properties.

Before you start

Rename a custom field

  1. In the left sidebar, click Properties, then open a property’s Summary page and go to its Custom Fields section.
  2. Find the field in the list, click its Action button, then click Edit Name.
  3. In the pop-up, change the text in the Field Name box.
  4. Click Save.

You’re returned to the Custom Fields list with the field’s new name. Because the field is shared across properties, the new label shows on every property, and any values already entered stay attached to it.

Enter or change a value on a property

The value is what you store for one specific property (for example, the actual gate code for one building).

  1. On a property’s Summary page, open the Custom Fields section.
  2. Type or update the value next to the field you want, then save it.
  3. The value is stored against that single property only — other properties keep their own values.

What you’ll see

After renaming, the Custom Fields list shows the new field name on all properties. After entering a value, that value appears on the property you edited.

Tips

  • Renaming the field does not erase any values — it only changes the label.
  • Use the field name for the label (e.g., “Gate Code”) and the value for the actual detail (e.g., “4821”).
