Delete a recurring bill
Deleting a recurring bill removes the template so it stops generating new bills. This is for when an expense ends for good — you cancel a service, sell the property, or set the template up by mistake.
Before you start
- Deleting is a soft delete: the template is hidden from your active lists, but the underlying record is preserved.
- A recurring bill can always be deleted. There’s nothing that blocks it.
- Deleting the template does not remove the bills it already generated. Those are normal bills on your Bills list, each with its own details and its own deletion rules. If you also want to remove a bill that was already created, delete it separately. See Delete a bill.
What blocks this delete
Nothing. A recurring bill has no dependencies that prevent deletion — the Delete option always works.
If you only want to pause the recurrence rather than remove it, edit the template and set its Status to Inactive instead. See Edit a recurring bill.
Steps
- In the left sidebar, click Bills, then open the Recurring Bills page.
- Open the recurring bill one of two ways:
- Click View to open the Recurring Bill Summary, then choose Delete from the Action menu, or
- On the row’s Action dropdown, choose Delete Recurring Bill.
- In the confirmation pop-up (“Please confirm that you would like to DELETE this Recurring Bill”), click DELETE.
What you’ll see
The template is removed from the Recurring Bills page and you see a confirmation that it was deleted. No new bills will generate from it. Any bills it generated before now remain on your Bills list unchanged.
Tips
- If you might use the same schedule again later, set the recurring bill to Inactive rather than deleting it — that keeps the template ready to switch back on. See Edit a recurring bill.
